Dominic and I have been dialoguing about the "Hold Fast" blog on the sidebar there...Here's a look into that conversation :)

Here's mine
"I went over Hold fast.....Did you get a chance yet?? I particularly enjoyed 'are you hiding Jews here?'
and 'Dead Poets Society'.

here's why: 'are you hiding Jews here?' goes over the whole lying issue and you have to read the comments underneath, cuz they way outline the whole issue and go over it really thoroughly--but the issue is very interesting as they are talking about if it is ever ok to lie, as in for a bday party or to save someone's life. 'Dead Poet's society' goes over the issue of how media feeds us lies, but we believe it and buy into it because it is so well written..... "

here's Dominic's

"'The cinema is really a scary thing, how it can twist your mind into thinking something completely opposite to everything you know to be true with a few soaring violins and dramatic lines. That's why you really never can turn your brain off" -- from the hold fast blog

It really is a scary thing and it's not restricted to just movies. Music can do the same thing to people, certain motivational lyrics or a part in a movie with emotions running high can turn you away from what you believe because the lies being said are made to seem like the best way to go. So truly you can't turn your brain off. You can't let your guard down to it because if you're not paying attention to what's really being said then we're vulnerable to Satan to come in and turn us from what's really true. Satan uses the actors/artists or whatever to make things look so much better than what we've been believing all this time so if we're not engaging our brains into what we're hearing then we can easily be detoured into a lie. Just wondering a couple things. This is for you teens, some questions regarding peer pressure. Has your view of peer pressure changed since we have discussed it the past two weeks and if so how.? Is there any more questions or thoughts that you all have in regards to peer pressure? How clear is this whole peer pressure thing in your minds? I mean like do you feel that you have a good understanding of the causes of peer pressure and the way that we are to battle this beast? Looking forward to your thoughts.

We are working on the "Hold Fast" blog on the sidebar there. So watch for upcoming post comments about that blog.

Hey Hey I know you all have remembed to do your homework assignment right? Yah just what I thought you forgot already what it even was, well maybe some of you haven't. So here it is again anyway. Michael worked with us on the who we get peer pressure from and the different areas and types that we receive it from. This week we are going to be looking at the ME factor. Not "me" because you are sooooooo important, but what is wrong with me that there is such a problem with peer pressure in my life. What is the root (when you hear the word root used like this, think of like a root on a tree, the problem that we see >peer pressure is just a fruit/result of a deeper problem in my life, the deeper problem is the root if the issue) issue involved with peer pressure. You guys are supposed to come up with the why (as in why do we give in to peer pressure, or what in us causes us to go against what we know is right) So now that you have all been given warning and reminder we the leaders expect you to all come fully prepared Sunday morning to both engage in conversation and answer with well thought out questions. I'm looking forward to it.
